FIEL SILLA CON CALAVERA – ONE OF ONE [SOLD OUT]

We don’t do regular chairs.
This was a curb-find on Ware Rd. Solid wood, broken rail, brown and boring. We stripped it, sanded it, painted it matte black — black like the night of Nov 1st — and gave it a seat at the ofrenda.
The skull on the back is painted in metallic gold and silver. Not a sticker. Hand-painted with tiny brushes, the kind that hurts your eyes. White flowers on both sides, gold swirls. This is the guardian of the altar.
The spindles are the sunset. Left to right:
Dark yellow / Cempasúchil
Orange / Mandarina
Red / Sangre
Burgundy / Vino tinto
Four colors, all metallic, so when the candlelight hits it, it glows. That’s intentional. Ofrendas are not supposed to be matte.
This was our first furniture piece. ONE OF ONE. We made one. It sold in 48 hours to a comadre in Edinburg who keeps it up year-round with her dad’s photo on it. She sent us a photo with marigolds on the seat. That’s why we keep this listing up.
Why it’s SOLD OUT:
This chair cannot be duplicated. The wood is old, the paint is mixed by hand, the skull is freehand. If we tried to remake it, it wouldn’t be the same. So we won’t. Archive only.

Back Art: Sugar skull in metallic gold + silver + white, sealed

Condition: Newly painted, vintage frame — small imperfections are part of the soul
For your home:
Use it as your ofrenda chair or use it as an accent. Either way, it is not for sitting with wet clothes. It’s art.
