ABOUT US: DISCOVER UNIQUE THRIFTED TREASURES

Good Morning 956 started in a garage in McAllen, TX.

If you are the type of person who loves good quality, unique finds and wants to do your part to keep things from going to the landfill, you're in the right place.

At Good Morning 956, rare pieces with good bones are found, brought into the workshop at our McAllen atelier at 813 N Main St, and given a new life so they can have a new life in your home. We specialize in upcycled furniture, custom heirloom creations, original artwork, and intentional decorating — all curated secondhand, upcycled, and small-batch handmade in the Rio Grande Valley.

The way it works is simple, and intentionally different from a random product grid.

Periodically, an artistic installation is mounted featuring the newest upcycled finds alongside unique handcrafted pieces. We call them vignettes. You see the full vignette first — a complete room story like Farmhouse Corner, Cosecha Thanksgiving (our Pottery Barn-inspired fall look), Fiel Altarcito Dia de los Muertos, Holiday Magic, or Charrito Americana — then you can shop every piece in it below.

This helps you find the exact piece you like and visualize how it would fit in your home, instead of scrolling through a random product grid with no context. Each installation has a theme — from Farmhouse Corner to Dia de los Muertos — so the collection has context, and you can build your space with intention. Every piece is photographed in the vignette, then listed as one-of-one or numbered edition of 20.

Our promise is low environmental impact, high design impact. We hunt for solid wood, dovetailed drawers, and good bones — not fast furniture. Each piece is stripped, repaired, painted, and sealed in our McAllen workshop to become an heirloom. We source thrifted treasures from across the 956, estate sales in McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, and beyond, keeping quality furniture out of the landfill.

Welcome to Good Morning 956 — McAllen's atelier by appointment for upcycled furniture and heirloom decor.

ABOUT US: THE ARTIST

Artie is an artist from McAllen, TX. His unique artistic eye was developed over 35 years of working out of San Francisco, CA with clients from all over the world in interior design and spatial conscious decor.

Since his semi-retirement, he has settled in the Rio Grande Valley where he opened his Good Morning 956 studio at 813 N Main St, McAllen, TX 78501 where he continues to work in his passion of interior design and spatial conscious decor. As always, his emphasis on low environmental impact is manifested in any one of his creations — from a Fiel Silla Con Calavera to a Cosecha sideboard to an original Charrito watercolor.

After doing several installations in local venues — including pop-ups and artist markets around McAllen and Austin — people kept asking to attend the next one and in order to satisfy the growing demand, he has extended reach by offering them online to his followers. Now every vignette is available to view online first, then shop in-person by appointment at the atelier.

What makes Good Morning 956 different? We don't flip furniture. We create heirloom art. Each upcycled piece is signed, documented, and built to last another 50 years. We use low-VOC paints, reclaimed wood where possible, and vintage hardware. Our small-batch handmade pieces are limited to editions of 20, making them collectible.

Our McAllen atelier at 813 N Main St is open by appointment only. We offer local decorating services, custom upcycling commissions, color consultations, and private atelier shopping.
